The Oreo Cookie is 100 yeas old today
In honor of the Oreo Cookie which turned 100 years old today. I am posting my recipe for Oreo Ice Cream Cake I have been
making this for about 35 years. It is simple,
just a few in ingredients, and very quick to make.
Ingredients
40 Oreos- less the white centers
1 stick unsalted butter
½ gallon Vanilla ice cream
3 tablespoons Cocoa
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 cup milk
¾ cup plus 3 ½ tablespoons sugar
1 - 12 oz container of Cool Whip or 8 - oz of Whipped Cream
40 crushed Oreos , with the white centers removed.
¾ stick unsalted butter
½ gallon vanilla ice cream, softened (let it set in the refrigerator
for 1-2 hours to soften)
Mix Oreos and butter spread the Oreos in a 9x13 pan,
covering the bottom and sides. You will
need ¼ cups later to sprinkle on top.
Spread the softened ice cream over the Oreo crust.
Place in the freezer to firm approximately 1 1/2 hours.
Chocolate Sauce
3 tablespoons Cocoa
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 cup milk
¾ cup plus 3 ½ tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoon unsalted butter
Combine all of the ingredients and bring to a boil for 8 minutes. Let the chocolate cool then spread over Ice
Cream.
Topping the cake
After the chocolate has set cover with Cool Whip or Whipped
Cream. Sprinkle the top with crushed Oreos.
Store in the freezer.
Alternate suggestion use a layer vanilla and a layer of chocolate.
